Like any other young man Birjesh had thought of getting settled in life and pursue his dream of a happy married life, got engaged to a girl in December 2012 unknown of the fact that the girl and her family had cruel intentions of extortion. Immediately after the enagement Brijesh came to know that the girl had a broken engagement of which he was not told about and the family was still looking for prospective grooms.
Upon confrontation the girl’s family was on back foot and immediately broke the engagement. But the girl kept in contact with Birjesh and would call him on one pretext or other. As a gesture of courtesy Brijesh would help the girl even to the extent of helping her find an apartment.
The girl ran away with the house owners son in October 2013 and came to Brijesh’s office denying the fact of such doing. While driving her back to her house the girl slit her wrist, Brijesh took her to the hospital where the police and the girl’s family also rushed immediately. The matter was resolved there and then and everyone returned back to their respective places. Just in a matter of 3-4 days Police visited Brijesh’s Home with a complaint from the girl’s side in which she had claimed that Brijesh and his family had demanded dowry to the tune of 50 Lakhs and that the girl’s hand was slit while she tried to save herself from Brijesh who was trying to kill her by stabbing in the stomach because she would tell the world that Birjesh raped her.
The false allegations including that of rape shook Birjesh who was taken into custody by the police and due to pressure he had to marry the girl. The girl after marriage took undue advantage of Brijesh’s decency and again filed false complaint at CAW cell alleging the same incidences. Brijesh was taken in police custody and could only come out after the girl extorted Rs. 10lakhs from him after 49 days in confinement.
Brijesh had had enough and decided to fight the false cases. During the trial he felt dejected and cheated many a times but kept his fight on. Victory came to him in September 2017 when the DV case filed by the girl was disposed by the trial court. The girl approached the Session Court twice and on both the occasions the DV was dismissed.
Brijesh who is free of a bad marriage after a long fight and securing his divorce from the Family Court in September 2019 is a confident man now and helps other victims fighting false cases taking cue from his several discussions with other victims and matrimonial law experts.
